CAPOEIRA

Capoeira classes offer a high-energy workout with many facets– martial arts, self-expression, acrobatics, self-defense, music (instruments and singing), Portuguese language and Afro-Brazilian culture.

Capoeira is a sport for all ages, genders, body types and levels. Classes are scalable and beginners are quickly welcomed into this diverse community. Classes led by Professora Agua-viva of Grupo Candeias Seattle supervised by Mestre Fenix.

Get started with our $40 Intro Package which includes a 30-minute intro lesson and two group classes.

Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that combines self-defense, acrobatics, dance, music, community, and culture. Over the past 500 years it has evolved from a secret fighting practice into an art emphasizing self-expression and community celebration.

AGUA-VIVA

Capoeira classes are led by Professora Água-viva (Jen Hobbs) supervised by Mestre Fenix of Grupo Candeias Seattle. She has been teaching youth and adult Capoeira classes in West Seattle since 2015, and has been studying the art of Capoeira for nearly 20 years.

Professora Água-viva has spent nearly 25 years studying various movement practices and continues to attend educational events and workshops. She spent several years working as a PreK gymnastics coach and has taught various fitness classes in gyms and in private training.

For Capoeira she travels to Brazil and to other locations around the world throughout year to participate in Capoeira events, competitions, and workshops.

Jen has a passion for working with kids and families and enjoys teaches in local schools and summer camps.
